ILR Car Control School has been working with the staff at Trent University in Peterborough for the last four years to train their recruiting staff in safe driving techniques. These individuals travel all over Ontario visiting high schools. They must drive in harsh weather and on overcrowded and stressful roads. We were very pleased to hear Trent University staff member, Jennifer W., Enrolment Advisor, Recruitment & Admissions report that since “ILR has been training their staff, they have not been involved in a single traffic incident”. We are very proud to hear this as this is our goal. To make drivers as safe on our roads as possible.
Congratulations to Michelle Groudreault of Orangeville Ontario. Michelle won a set of four Goodyear Tires donated by Goodyear Tire corporation in support of the James Fund. Thank you to Goodyear Tires for helping us raise over $5,000 for the charity.
Other winners are Dave Stokes of Pickering who won a FREE ILR Car Control School and Carson Allen who won an Emergency Kit for his vehicle donated by Canadian Tire of Orangeville. Congratulations to our winners and supports of the James Fund Exotic Car Ride Charity Event.
This year’s Exotic Car Ride Charity Event will be held on Saturday, June 14th at the Powerade Centre in Brampton. For your donation to the James Fund (www.jamesfund.ca) you can get an exciting ride around our autoslalom race track in the exotic car of your choice. If you have always wanted a ride in a Ferrari, Porsche, Viper, Lamborghini, Corvette or Cobra, this is the best place to make that dream come true. The public is invited from 1 pm to 5 pm. Rides are $20 each or 3 for $50 donation.
Back in January the Marilyn Denis Show sent their roving reporter and outdoor expert Owen Reeves to visit our ILR Winter Driving school to show a few winter driving tips to their viewers. In the short time we had with Owen, we could only show the “tip of the iceberg” when it comes to safe winter driving. This link will take you to that episode. (there is a short intro to get through).
ILR and Goodyear enjoyed a very successful Winter Driving School season. This winter gave us excellent conditions to train drivers in safe winter driving techniques. Most of our school dates were SOLD OUT showing the increasing popularity of these Winter Driving Schools. Along with over 100 public motorists taking part in these courses, ILR trained staff from 2 Ontario Ministries (Ministry of Transportation and the Ministry of Labour) as well as staff from Orillia Power. Each participant was also given a discount coupon from Goodyear tires to use towards their next purchase of vehicle tires – winter or summer.
Good afternoon Ian, thank you for fitting our guys into your program with such little advance notice. All 4 guys had nothing but great things to say about your program, and for people that a very large part of their job is behind the wheel of a vehicle they all felt they came back with a better insight in the safe operation of a vehicle through the winter months. Based on the conversations we have had with the 4 attendees, the evaluation forms they had filled out as per your request and the report that we had requested, this is a program we will follow up with next year. We also hope to contact some neighboring utilities to see if there would be an interest in joining us in participating in this program there by expanding our numbers in an attempt to lower the costs at the same time getting more educated operators on the road. I have attached copies of your evaluation forms as well as the report prepared by our guys to be presented at our next Health & Safety Meeting. Thanks again Ian.
Have a great day, thanks Don
