Back in January the Marilyn Denis Show sent their roving reporter and outdoor expert Owen Reeves to visit our ILR Winter Driving school to show a few winter driving tips to their viewers. In the short time we had with Owen, we could only show the “tip of the iceberg” when it comes to safe winter driving. This link will take you to that episode. (there is a short intro to get through).
ILR and Goodyear enjoyed a very successful Winter Driving School season. This winter gave us excellent conditions to train drivers in safe winter driving techniques. Most of our school dates were SOLD OUT showing the increasing popularity of these Winter Driving Schools. Along with over 100 public motorists taking part in these courses, ILR trained staff from 2 Ontario Ministries (Ministry of Transportation and the Ministry of Labour) as well as staff from Orillia Power. Each participant was also given a discount coupon from Goodyear tires to use towards their next purchase of vehicle tires – winter or summer.
Good afternoon Ian, thank you for fitting our guys into your program with such little advance notice. All 4 guys had nothing but great things to say about your program, and for people that a very large part of their job is behind the wheel of a vehicle they all felt they came back with a better insight in the safe operation of a vehicle through the winter months. Based on the conversations we have had with the 4 attendees, the evaluation forms they had filled out as per your request and the report that we had requested, this is a program we will follow up with next year. We also hope to contact some neighboring utilities to see if there would be an interest in joining us in participating in this program there by expanding our numbers in an attempt to lower the costs at the same time getting more educated operators on the road. I have attached copies of your evaluation forms as well as the report prepared by our guys to be presented at our next Health & Safety Meeting. Thanks again Ian.
Have a great day, thanks Don

On Monday Feb. 17th at 9 pm on Vision TV (cable 60) ILR’s very own Shaun de Jager and Ian Law square off with hosts Conrad Black and Denise Donlon on The Zoomer in discussions about aging and driving. Also on the panel were Minister for Seniors Mario Sergio, Ret’ OPP Sgt. Bob Patterson, CARP representative Susan Eng and a representative from Ford Motors. The discussion turns quite lively as Shaun and Ian take on Ford Motors and the other auto manufacturers to task for their so called “safety features”. Enjoy.

ILR has grown to the point where we will be adding 3 NEW courses to our curriculum. Our Tactical Driving courses are designed for law enforcement, police forces and security firms. Not only will we be helping these drivers understand the ultimate in control skills but we will be showing them pursuit and evasion driving skills.
Our ECO Driving course will help all motorists get the most out of their petro-dollars. ILR will help you improve your fuel economy from 10 to 50% meaning this course will pay for itself in no time. You are not helpless in the fight against the oil companies.
Our new Performance Driving Level 2 takes our Track Schools to the next level. In this course you will learn how to set up your car for competition driving using data acquisition technology and the latest in suspension, brake and tire technology. We’ll help you beat the competition by taking your driving skills and car set up skills up another notch.
Details on these courses will be posted on our website soon.
Goodyear Canada inc. is offering all ILR graduates in either our advanced driving or performance driving schools a mail-in rebate on their next tire purchase as a way of saying thank-you.
